What guests ask before they call. If your question isn't here, the host will answer it on the phone or over WhatsApp.
What is Club Golden Key?
Club Golden Key is a private sex club at Overtoom 294 in Amsterdam, operating under an exploitatievergunning issued by the Gemeente Amsterdam (licence number ASD 1054 CJ/B002). Founded in 1986 and run by the same family ever since, it is the oldest licensed venue of its kind in the city still run by the same family.
Is Club Golden Key a brothel?
Yes, under the Dutch regulatory definition. A bordeel (brothel) is a licensed venue permitting adult services on the premises. Club Golden Key holds exploitatievergunning ASD 1054 CJ/B002 issued by the Gemeente Amsterdam. The legal category covers everything from window-prostitution venues in the Red Light District to private sex clubs and houses like ours. We use the term "brothel" because it is the regulatory term and because some of our guests prefer it; "private sex club" or "licensed brothel" are equally accurate.
Are you an FKK club or a Laufhaus?
No. FKK clubs (popular in Germany and Austria) and Laufhäuser (Vienna and Switzerland) operate under different licensing models that do not exist in their original form in the Netherlands. Club Golden Key is a licensed brothel with a bar and lounge, and private suites. Only the private-suite portion of an FKK evening overlaps with what we offer; there is no pool, sauna, or clothing-optional area. More on the differences on our FKK and Laufhaus page.
Are you a swingers club or club libertin?
No. A swingers or libertin club is a venue for couples and singles who participate together. Club Golden Key is a brothel and sex club, guests visit to spend time with the women who work with us. The two formats are different categories under Dutch law and we are not licensed for swingers club activity.
Are you a strip club?
No. A strip club is licensed for adult entertainment without on-site sex services. Club Golden Key is a licensed brothel, services happen in private suites after introductions at the bar. We do not have a stage, dancers, or strip performances.
Are you the best brothel in Amsterdam?
"Best" depends on what you are searching for. By the practical signals, continuous ownership, discretion, licensing track record, format, location, Club Golden Key is among the longest-established licensed brothels in Amsterdam. We are the oldest still run by the same family in the city. More on what "best" actually means on our guide page.
Where exactly is the club located?
Overtoom 294, 1054 JC Amsterdam, on the long avenue that runs between Leidseplein and the Vondelpark. The front door is roughly a hundred metres from the main park gate. From the city centre it is about ten minutes by taxi.
What are your opening hours?
Monday through Saturday, 20:00 – 04:00. Sunday, 21:00 – 04:00. Walk-ins are welcome any night within those hours; the host answers the phone during opening hours.
Can I book or reserve in advance?
No. Club Golden Key deliberately does not run a booking system or an online reservation form. You can phone, send a WhatsApp message, or email ahead, but the evening is shaped at the bar in conversation with our host, not on a calendar.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes. Guests must be 21 or older. Photo ID may be requested at the door.
Is there a dress code?
Smart-casual or better. No sportswear, no caps, no shorts. The aim is comfortable but considered, what you would wear to a quiet restaurant in the evening.
Is the venue licensed?
Yes. Club Golden Key operates under an exploitatievergunning issued by the Gemeente Amsterdam, licence number ASD 1054 CJ/B002. This requires periodic municipal inspection, full identification of everyone working in the venue, and adherence to standards on hygiene, safety and labour conditions.
How discreet is a visit to Club Golden Key?
Very. There are no street-facing windows. There is no published price list and there are no profiles of the women who work with us anywhere online. Photography inside the club is not permitted. Discretion is assumed in every direction, and enforced where needed.
How does an evening typically unfold?
You arrive at the door, the host welcomes you to the bar and lounge, you have a drink and look around. The host introduces you to the women; they stay seated, you make the choice. Any agreement is settled before the door of a private suite closes, including the terms of what is and is not on offer.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Payment is in venue: cash, debit card, Visa or Mastercard. Club Golden Key does not accept online prepayment, deposits, or cryptocurrency.
Are prices listed on the website?
No. We do not publish prices online. Specifics are discussed with our host in person and depend on the evening, admission, drinks, and any private arrangements are agreed up front.
How does Club Golden Key differ from the Red Light District?
Club Golden Key is a private indoor venue in the Oud-West neighbourhood, not the Red Light District. There are no shop-windows, no walk-by traffic, and no street display. The atmosphere is closer to a quiet members club than to the Wallen.
Is photography allowed inside?
No. Photography and video recording inside the club are not permitted under any circumstances. This protects the privacy of every guest and every person who works with us.
How do I get there from Amsterdam Central Station or Schiphol?
From Central Station: about 12 minutes by taxi via the Marnixstraat. From Schiphol airport: 20–30 minutes by taxi depending on traffic. Tram 1 runs along the Overtoom and stops within a short walk of the front door.
How can I get in touch with the host before arriving?
By phone at +31 20 612 4078, on WhatsApp at the same number, or by email at info@clubgoldenkey.nl. WhatsApp is the easiest channel if you are calling from outside opening hours.
